Used up some of my scraps. The piece of blue matched the blue in the ugly (which wasn't really ugly). I just made it up as I went along. Luckily, it turned out okay.

So sorry folks, I'm going to have to drop out of this challenge.  We'll be traveling to North Carolina either tomorrow or Thur at the latest to take my 88 year old aunt to stay with her daughter there.  Have this week off and the plan was to finish getting the top done, but family comes first.           Sandy

Oh Sandy, I didn't see your picture earlier...those are great looking 'dots'! Is it going to be a wall hanging, or?

The "dots" are made with used coffee filters then sewn onto 10 1/2" squares.  I've enough to make a full (or maybe a queen) and want to do something like the pattern pictured.   Still have lots of "dots" to sew to squares.   I'll chop the dots and squares in quarters and either make a Drunkards Path or try to arrange them a little like the pattern.  I'm debating if I want to cut the circles out from behind the "dots" from the square fabrics to make the smaller pieces in the pattern.  Suggestions?             Thanks.             Sandy

Sandy

I just think it so unique and great what you are doing for the challenge. I am curious about the used coffee filters. When you get back maybe you can elaborate. Or anyone else that knows this secret. A few of my fellow quilters have done circles"dots" like you have they left the fabric there. They found it was more stable when resewing and with the final quilting. However there quilt didn't have the patern setup like yours is going to have. Can't wait to see it when you arre done.

Actually you have put a thought in my head(that can be dangerous at times.lol) I was handed a bag of things. In this bag are lot and lots of circles that have been cut from Christmas fabrics. Will have to count and find more info about your pattern. You have been inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

Hugs and stitches

Sandy, it is beautiful! So sad you have to drop out but you will have a beautiful quilt!
I have the raw edge circle quilt started and I did cut out behind the circles, so some are useful for more smaller circles.
Never heard of using coffee filters, tell me more....

Rosie ... nice! ... those colors pop! ...

There sure is some tough competition in this challenge!

Well ... I am working on my own effort this week and hope to add it to the album soon ...

Looking in the album, I have no idea how I will ever chose one to vote for ... they are all so gorgeous! ...   Pat

Sandy, I love what you've done so far! I hope you'll show us the finished product when you do have time to get back to it. I hope your trip goes well.

I agree with Pat -- these projects are turning out so well! It'll be very difficult to pick just one!

Well, I have my "ugly" runner on my coffee table, and the cats love it! There's been more lounging around on that table than it ever got with the little square quilt on it!

I just got mine quilted, but my machine was protesting it's long neglect and decided to sprinkle down black, greasy, powdery stuff onto it as I was finishing it up. I wasn't pleased. Fortunately, I think I've gotten it all out. Now I just need to work the new oil through the machine so I can bind it. Then, done! Hopefully this weekend.
