Extreme Veteran Posts: 308 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Centennial, CO (56.0.84.23) | Good Morning, Ladies, Can't believe it's February already. Hope everyone is having a good day. Margo, are you out there? Did you get a lot of snow? I barely stepped out of my house this weekend, but it sure is a lot cleaner than it was! I totally lost track of how many loads of laundry I did, but the water company will probably be posting big profits for January. Didn't get any quilting done, but I did spend most of the afternoon and evening on my Southern Sampler cross stitch. (This is a project I started, thinking "I wonder how fast I can complete this one." That was about 2 years ago!) I hope you all had a good weekend, and will have a great February! Barb

Extreme Veteran Posts: 308 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Centennial, CO (56.0.84.25) | Sandy, I wish your aunt could talk some sense into my 86 year old mother, who absolutely shouldn't be living alone, but refuses to do anything about it. We asked her repeatedly to come spend the winter with us, but she wouldn't; I found a lovely retirement community not far from her house that would let her just stay during the winter months - she wouldn't even go look. Our McGhee family has a reputation for being stubborn, but my mom is stubborn just for the sake of being stubborn. I love her dearly, but she makes me crazy! Pat, honest to Pete - doing your laundry sounds preferable to being in here at work. Barb

Elite Veteran Posts: 1096 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Hagersville, Ontario, Canada (64.136.113.7) | Good evening ladies Just home from guild. Fantastic nite. We pkged doorprizes for the upcoming quilt show, cut sqs for baggie pkgs - 2 1/2, 3 1/2, etc. They go like hot cakes. We are making strawberry needle sharpeners. I know I didn't explain that one - you know those things that hang off the tomato pincushions. Them there things.lol We've over 350 done - they're give aways to every one that comes. Got a few bingo blocks sorted out - took about 200 - 2 1/2" sqs for everyone to select for the big game next month. It is anniversary month and we are playing BINGO - an adaptation of Fons and Porters game. I've put together some great prizes - years membership dues, 3 -jelly rolls, fq collection of Betty Boop, fq collections of tone on tones from Kona Bay, Queen size batting, etc. Should be a great nite. The blocks afterwards will be made into charity quilts for the community. Well off for a bit of dot sewing. The girls gave me some more dots for the VW quilt. Son ladies you will get a pic. Just 3 more days in the 12 day stretch, then the weekend to sew. Yes. Hugs and stitches Debbieann ps - how do you guys get to type in colour? I must have missed a button or something. Thanks

A different box will show up with lots of things - font size, colour, etc. Gerda

Expert Posts: 3732 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada (173.183.194.145) | By the way, how many members do you have? You gals have some great ideas and prizes! I may have to mention them to our co-chairs! We get prizes (one each) from the three LQSs, and this year, in doing a small part for the economy, we buy 3 FQs from each of the three shops for extra prizes. There is also a small prize for someone who brings show and tell. We have somewhere around 60 members, some years up to 70some. Then there is a huge guild in Edmonton, Leduc (just 15 minutes south of Edmonton) has a guild, as does St. Albert just on the northwestern border of Edmonton. So for two towns/cities of a combined population of maybe 35,000+, that's not bad. Gerda

Elite Veteran Posts: 1015 ![]() Location: Huron, SD (24.230.107.189) | Barb, good luck with your Mom. My aunt was the same way until she got shingles, put on a different medicine, and couldn't handle it well. We're leaving tomorrow or Thur at the latest for North Carolina so she can live with her daughter there for awhile. If her body becomes used to this new medicine, she may just decide to come back here on her own.... Debbie and Gerda, those are some nice guilds you have! I joined the SD quild last fall, so haven't gotten very involved yet. Spring meeting is coming, so will see what it's all about then. Have a great day all! Sandy

Veteran Posts: 266 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Scotland (95.146.20.133) | It seems like ages since I have had a chance to get on here. I've been playing a spot of 'catch-up' with you all over the last couple of days. You've all been so busy, wish I could reply to all of you, maybe later. Poppy dog came back home last night, Mark has nicknamed her 'frankiendog' she does have a blue stitched scar around her whole neck, she is lucky to be alive. She is a labrador cross but both parents were working gun dogs, the vets reckon that is how she is so tough. Anyway today I am just trying to keep her as quiet as possible, she is away in a room away from the other dogs so I have had some nice quilt reading time with her. It will not be so quiet tomorrow though, Emma, Neill and Owen are coming to stay while their central heating is fixed. We have had fresh snow again today and it is quite nippy. Debbieann - Your quilt guild sounds like so much fun, how often do you get to go? and what on earth is Fons and Porters? Now I've got to go as the workmen have arrived to start building a new fence for us, actually it will be two, they are being built either side of the house to seperate the back garden from the front, they will make everything a lot more secure. Bye for now

Expert Posts: 2121 ![]() ![]() Location: Winter Garden, FL (64.45.194.66) | Good morning, all! Debbieann, my guild meeting was last night, too. We had a teacher this weekend - Sue Nickels - and she was our lecturer. I took yesterday's class which was how to draw (by hand!) feathers and then free motion quilt them. It was great fun! We are having our third day of gray & rainy weather. At least the temps are mild - I didn't even wear a sweater this morning. I'm ready for some sunshine, though! Off to staff meeting. Have a great day!

I hope you all are well today. We've got a little bit of sun, mostly clouds though. Dh and I went on a marathon grocery trip, we were waaaay low on supplies. And when I got home, I had a lovely, gorgeous baby quilt waiting for me. BJ's (Mikka) quilt is here, and I'm doing my thing to it. Hope to have it out in a few days. Hello Ms Pat, I'm doing ok. Have a grand afternoon all.

Expert Posts: 2121 ![]() ![]() Location: Winter Garden, FL (64.45.194.66) | Good morning! It's gray and chilly again here. Bleh. More rain is predicted for this weekend. A little sunshine break first would be nice, though! Pat, check out Sue Nickels' website. Her feathers are sure to make you drool! She draws them freehand and they are all the same size and shape! http://www.sue-nickels.com/index.html Mark got bad news at work yesterday. (They never seem to get good news!) One of his employees can no longer work on Saturdays, which means now he has to work all day every other Saturday (which he's been doing forever) and half day on the other Saturdays, at least until he can hire and train someone else. He's really mad about it! I hope he'll be able to schedule some half days off during the week. At least there are a lot of people in the job market right now, so maybe it won't take long to find someone. Gotta get to work. I sure wish I was on that cruise with Sally!

Veteran Posts: 266 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Scotland (95.146.22.183) | Hello Everyone, No snow in our little bit of Scotland today, it's just cold and damp, worst kind of weather if you ask me. Donna - That is really tough news about your Mark's work, weekends are special times and everybody needs them. I hope he does manage to get some time off during the week to make up some 'off' time. Take care and I hope it all works out. Sue
