Sara’s new grandchild is due August 28 and a pattern has been chosen!
Sara said the parents, Trey and Cindy, have decided on the Hugs and Kisses pattern:

http://www.quiltpox.com/patterns/Hugs/

After discussing colors, Cindy would like a quilt with a white background;
the X’s in medium shades of green and
the O’s to be medium tones of yellow, blue, red, pink, lavender, orange and turquoise...baby colors.
Since we don’t know the sex of the baby yet, we don’t want to load the quilt with lots of girly or boyish colors. Absolutely NO hot or neon colors.

We are requesting donations of a dollar to be enclosed with blocks to help defray postage costs ... or that $$ may be sent for batting rather than mailing bulky batting.

So, let's get started, Aunties! The blocks are 10.5” unfinished and should result in a finished quilt of 55” X 55”.

We will need:
13 X blocks – 10.5" (10" finished) in medium green and white
DENISE - 1 arrived 3/27
DORIAN - 1 arrived 3/6
AJ - 2 arrived 3/12
SHARON - 2 arrived 2/22
JAMI - 2 arrived 3/6

GERDA - 1 arrived 3/24

 SANDY - 1 arrived 2/20

Milica - 3 arrived 3/24

(13"X" Blocks) We have enough X Blocks

12 O blocks – 10.5” (10" finished) using white background with your choice of medium tones of: yellow, blue, red, pink, lavender, orange or turquoise.
PAT - 1 blue arrived 2/19
CHAR - 1 yellow arrived 2/18
DORIAN - 1 purple arrived 3/6
ANNETTE - 1 orange arrived 3/22

DEBBIEANN - 1 yellow arrived 3/13

SHARON - 1 N lavender and 1 blue arrived 2/22

GERDA - 1 red arrived 3/24

SANDY - 2 turquoise arrived 2/20

Denise - 1 red arrived 3/27

Sally - 1 yellow arrived 3/6

(12 "O" Blocks) We have enough O Blocks

1/2 yard of a white on white border - CHAR arrived 2/18
1/2 yard of a medium green for binding - Sherry (received by Pat)
Backing fabric - the quilt should measure approximately 55” x 55”  ... (3.5 yards needed or 67" square if pieced by the volunteer supplying the backing) ... Midge ...  (recevied by Pat)
Batting - ditto -  (67"square) Cindy ... ($$ recieved by Pat)
Label - Sharon
(received by Pat)
Piecer - Annette (received by Pat April 19th)
Quilter - Pat
Binding - Pat
Project coordinator - Annette
Did I leave anything out?
Let the sign-ups begin!!!
Btw - this baby is due to make an appearance on August 28. Since there are several babies due in August, let’s get this going and done early so we can help out on the other quilts and give the Quilter plenty of time! Thanks!!

Here's a picture of what it could look like.....

Should the colors be tone on tone or small print? or can they be larger print/novelty?

Please sign me up for both an 'O' block and one 'X' block (or is one person doing the X's to make them all the same green?)

annette, i've updated your list.  we had this "edit button" issue last summer and i don't think it ever got resolved.  something about the amount of time after a post that it can be edited - i'm not really sure - but let's not re-hash that old issue, ok?  admins (jess & i) can edit anytime to any post.  moderators (like ms. pat or dorian) have limited editing capabilities only within the areas they are listed as moderator - at least i think i am right on that for the moderators . . .

anyways - i can edit for you, it will probably just be late in the evenings after carter is asleep or early in the mornings during the only quiet time i get during the day . . . just be patient with me . . .

when someone signs up for one of the "O" blocks, do they need to sign up for a color?  i am only asking cause ms. pat & char specified what color they were going to make, but dorian did not.  wasn't sure if you wanted to know beforehand???

Dorian, white on white-tone on tone for the background. Thanks for asking.

Cindy, Yes. It would be helpful for everyone to know what colors everyone else plan to use so we don't overload on 'blue' for instance. In the blocks, the squares are only 2 1/2", so large novelty prints aren't going to show. However, I have some fabric with an orange background and small yellow triangles and other color dots. As a matter of fact, would you sign me up to make a block with the orange?

Annette

PS Thank you Miss Cindy for your help.

Sign me up for two 'x' blocks! This one is going to be so cute! Actually, all these baby quilts have turned out super-cute, haven't they?

Oh, this will be such a pretty baby quilt!  Please put me down for one of each and my "O" will be turquoise.  If more aunties want to be involved, I'll just do the "O" block and $$ of course.                Sandy
