I think this song says it all.  Here my July song block challenge "Land and Liberty"

http://www.brownielocks.com/godblesstheusaWAVE.html

            God Bless the U.S.A.

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

Love the song and the block!! I got goosebumps the first time I heard Lee Greenwood sing that!! Great job, Miki!!
Nobody ever writes good songs like that for Canada, though there are some good ones about Alberta - does "Alberta Bound" by Ian Tyson ring any bells? And Paul Brandt has one, as well, about crossing the border at Sweetgrass, Montana into Coutts, Alberta - it's funny, really, when we first moved to Alberta from Ontario, I was quite homesick. Yet, when I went back "home" (can't remember now if it was the same year or the following), I was there about a week, then when the kids and I got onboard the plane, Alberta Bound kept going through my mind. That's when I knew home is where you hang your hat! :) and the spouse is!!

Did you know Miki, that is one of my favorite songs of all time? It is one of the only ones I can remember the words to without the music, and I sing it to my Sammy all the time!! I am so glad you picked that song. I love your block too.

By the way, you are our winner for July. Sorry, the summer has so many of us away from our machines. It is so awesome that you are not falling behind on this one, as many of us are! Now, to see what August theme is....
