Good morning - Sunday morning that is. I didn't get any sewing done yesterday. I went to get started on one of the tops I brought with me and discovered that I had not packed any pins to get the top pinned so I could start quilting . So I had to go shopping instead . Found a lovely little shop over on the coast and they just happened to be having a class on dying fabric. Being a very friendly quilting group I got to look at what they had been working on and the different effect you can get from placing various objects on the fabric as it dries, very nice. Spent too much money and had a ball. I ended up getting something for the embroidery machine, it is called "Spirit of the Outback". Can't wait to do some of these patterns. I got some pins so will be doing the pinning today which should be a lot easier as it is about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. So I am off to start.

Have fun everyone

Well, I got all my charity blocks done and ready to be mailed on Monday.     I'm headed off to watch a movie and knit for a while.  I had a ball today!  Let's do this again real soon!!

I finished this donation quilt top yesterday! It's a pretty sad photo...the actual quilt looks much better!

Nice to see that some people actually finished something. I made progress, but mainly in adding to the pile to sew another day. I spent only a few minutes at the machine and the rest of the day making design decisions, cutting, sorting, etc. Definitley quilty but nothing finished so the results are not as visible.

you did all the "dirty work" as I call it. I dislike the cutting part more than anything. If I could live in a world with precut pieces I'd get alot more accomplished.

Donna ... that is a lovely quilt ... is it your own pattern? ... I really like the addition of the top and bottom rows ...

Jenn ... the Pooh quilt is just adorable!!!!   ... your friend will love receiving it for her baby. The fabrics really really worked well for this pattern.

I did not get as much sewing done yesterday as I would have liked.  I had to run some errands and stock up on groceries before the snow started to fly.  I did get one possible RR center block made ... but I want to do another before I post pictures ... I am hoping to do that later today ...

how about a sew for yourself Sunday? ... or any day?  ...   Pat

Jenn, the Pooh quilt came out great! It is so cute!

Pat, my quilt started out as a pattern called Baby Charms. You sew charm squares together then cut it in a couple of places on the diagonal and sew it back together to make an on point square. The pattern then calls for a narrow border then a wider one, to make a 48" square quilt, but I wanted to make it bigger so I added the windmill blocks at the top & bottom and then 2 more borders. I'm working on another one for a friend's baby coming in April.

Hi ladies -

Jenn and Donna - great quilts!! Well done.

Well, it looks like we all got something done, though we didn't all get to sew for ourselves. I didn't even get the sewing machine out. Ah, well. Next time. The shelves in the new studio are finally finished and Billy helped me sort and put away all of the Quilt and Needle fabric bolts. Now I just have to do everything else, and I think I need some more organizers... hehe. One step at a time.

Feel free to schedule a sew for yourself day on the calendar anytime you want to ladies. If you want to do a Sunday in February, go for it. I have only scheduled four for the year, and I know we could all use a break and a day for ourselves more often than that.

Jenn,

Love your pooh quilt your friend it going to be so excited to receive it.

Donna, I miss your quilt picture, it is no longer there.  I know it was a beauty. I sure hope you post some pictures of the quilts you entered in your guild.

It is wonderful that so many of us got some projects started or completed.  I finished up a quilt top I have been sitting on for a couple of months, when I showed it to my husband he ask "now who is this one for"  and he was surprised when I said "me".  I also finished piecing a top. I used the disapearing nine patch pattern, that was really alot of fun.  I used squares I had bought off of ebay last summer (wow how much fun to have precut fabric).  The disappearing nine patch quilt is going to be for the Soldiers Angels Blankets of Hope project.

I have found it to be really hard to make mens quilts, it seems like mine always end up looking more femine than I want.  This time I only used black and white with just one strip of red so I think I am all right.   Will post pictures later.

I'm still plugging away on the bag...

I tell you, these have to be the WORST instructions of anything I have ever bought...EVER!!!!! They are making this bag so much harder than it needed to be. I will say it's going to be way cute when I get it done, but what a pain in my butt! I have sewn for years (40 to 45 at least) and I swear that Butterick patterns from long ago were easier to understand than this pattern. (Those that sewed years ago will understand that remark! )

I think I would make this again, but change everthing about it except what the outside looks like! Well...maybe a change or two there also!

Anyway, I just needed to whine a bit about it.   I'm going to get back at it, maybe I can get it finished up yet today!

Jami
